Shakespeare’s Pizza fundraiser

by Luke on March 24, 2017

If you are headed to SharpTop Cove this summer and need to raise some funds or just looking for some delicious, local pizza listen up…

Young Life Columbia is teaming up with Shakespeare’s Pizza and selling frozen pizzas.  They are available in nine varieties: pepperoni, sausage (Italian style pork), veggie, double cheese, four cheese, Hawaiian, spinach and artichoke, Pizza Lover’s Passion (supreme), and Panda’s Pepper (pepperoni, pepperjack cheese, green peppers, and banana peppers). If you have never tried one, they taste very much like a Shakespeare’s pizza in the restaurant.  For each pizza you sell, you will get $6 towards your trip to SharpTop Cove.  So, for example, if you sell 20 pizzas, you would get $120.

Here’s how you can make some money for your trip to SharpTop Cove:

1. Pick up an order form at Club or download one HERE.

2. Sell pizzas! Pizzas are $12 each and $6 of that goes directly to your trip to SharpTop Cove.  Please collect money when you take the order.  Forms and money are due back on April 5th.  Checks made out to Young Life.

3. Deliver pizzas.  You will need to show up in person on Sunday, April 30th between 1:00 and 1:30pm  to Shakespeare’s SOUTH (Peach Tree location)  to pick up your pizzas.  They should be delivered or put into a freezer immediately.

“Jumpstarting” Young Life in Boonville

by Luke on March 21, 2017

On February 28th, a group of adults in Boonville teamed up with Young Life staff and leaders from around the state to participate in a Young Life Jumpstart Day. Throughout the day, the Jumpstart Team met with over 50 adults in the community who have an interest in bringing Young Life to their community. The day ended with a Club meeting where 58 Boonville HS students showed up for the first ever Boonville YL Club!

The vision to start Young Life in Boonville began last summer when a group of high school students from Boonville HS attended Young Life camp at Timber Wolf Lake. They were invited to go by two of their teachers, Paul Moore and Kacie Richter, who were both involved with Young Life when they were in high school and both went on to be Young Life leaders while they were in college. Despite not having an official Young Life program at their school, 10 students took their teachers up on the offer and had the best week of their lives!

These students came back from camp persistently asking (demanding!) that we launch a Young Life program at their school. When you take a group of fired up high school students, combine them with teachers who want to make a difference in the lives of students, and throw in some parents and other concerned adults, you have a recipe for a successful start to Young Life in a community.

We are excited to see how God might use Young Life to change lives in Boonville.  If you know anyone in the Boonville area that might have an interest in Young Life, we still need to fill out our Leader Team and our Committee before we can officially launch Young Life. We have a meeting coming up on April 5th for anyone interested in joining the fun! Email Luke at younglifecolumbia@gmail.com for more info.
